Yakima Wine Tasting

Experiencing Yakima Wine Tasting

Visiting Yakima is not complete without experiencing a Yakima wine tasting from Freehand Cellars. Many wineries in the area offer a tasting as a part of their tasting room experience, but Freehand Cellars wine tasting is more than just a “tasting”, it’s an experience. Our wine tasting may look a little different in comparison to what wine enthusiasts have been used to in the past.

A new way to experience a Yakima wine tasting!

In the past, experiencing a wine tasting in tasting rooms across Washington state would involve sitting at the main tasting room counter while being poured a splash of each wine that was being highlighted. To some wine-patrons, this sounds simply amazing. They are sitting and chatting it up, while learning about each wine that is being poured. To others, this sounds like torture; a small-talk-waiting-for-the-next-pour experience is not your typical introverts cup of tea or wine.

Many wineries have veered away from this way of wine tasting and have embraced tasting flights instead. At Freehand Cellars you can enjoy a self-guided wine tasting that is poured as a wine flight to be enjoyed at your table, at your leisure. Our wine flight will highlight 5 different single-varietal wines that we believe are the best wines in our Freehand wine line up. Wine flights are the new way of wine tasting. The flight is typically served with a follow-along sheet that highlights notes of each wine.

The good thing about Yakima wine tasting at Freehand Cellars is that your experience is more than (just) leaning on the counter waiting for the next pour, it’s a shared experience with whomever you are sitting with as your guest. It’s this experience that we want you to remember when you leave our tasting room.

Alternatively, if you are one that enjoys the interaction with a wine attendant then pull up a stool and enjoy a Yakima wine tasting with us. There are many wine-patrons who enjoy quizzing our knowledge of wine in the tasting room and we say, “bring it on.” All types of wine-tasting enthusiasts are welcome, our only stipulation is that you are enjoying some wine! Cheers to you!
